FREE Dance workshop for schools
We are delighted to offer a FREE day/session of theatre dance and choreography to one lucky school delivered by a top international dance expert, Rachel Birch-Lawson.
Rachel directs and choreographs movement-based work within dance, theatre, opera, and music theatre. She trained at London Contemporary Dance School (BA Hons), European choreographic programme Dance Beyond Borders (Germany, Belgium, Portugal, UK), and Trinity Laban Conservatoire for Music and Dance (MFA), where she was a Leverhulme Arts Scholar.
Rachel’s work has been performed across the UK, Europe and Africa, supported by organisations including Arts Council England, Kent County Council, the British Council, South East Dance, DanceEast, and Gulbenkian. She has created work for companies including Garsington Opera, Cahoots NI, and Tangled Feet, and has taught at universities and conservatoires around the world.
She is currently a Teaching Fellow in Dance at Guildford School of Acting/University of Surrey, teaching on the BA Dance and BA Acting courses, and lectures and supervises on the MA/MFA Choreography Programme at Trinity Laban Conservatoire for Music and Dance. She is also movement consultant for Theatretrain.
Rachel is just one of the 150 BYMT freelance staff who have helped to deliver over 100 new music theatre productions in the past 16 years.
The winning school will be selected by prize draw on Monday 20th January. Please note, entrants must be employed by the school they are entering the competition for.
