New Wolsey Theatre aims to combine their own productions, projects, collaborations with other partners and touring work, to create a programme of performances and creative learning projects of the highest quality, maximum diversity and greatest possible accessibility, within a sound and sustainable financial framework.

- To create a theatre that is welcoming, inclusive and open to all sections of the community.
- To create a theatre which has a high profile, and is a vital component of the public and cultural life of the region.
- To create work that both satisfies and challenges the theatre’s audiences.
- To offer opportunities to develop theatre and performance skills, particularly to young people and other social and cultural groups who are currently under represented.
- To create educational opportunities for learners within the theatre’s programme which enliven and extend their studies.
- To combine with other partners, as sponsors, co-producers or funders to enhance and extend the quality and scope of our productions and other activities.
- To develop new artists, new work and new ways of working.
- To develop a national profile for the theatre as a centre of excellence and a source of innovation.
- To develop business acumen to ensure and enhance both the efficient running and financial viability of the organisation.
From London, Chelmsford and Colchester (A12 northbound)
Take the A12 to Ipswich. At the roundabout where the A12 and the A14 intersect take the second exit onto the A1214. Go straight over the next roundabout (Tesco is on your left) and continue on London Road through several sets of traffic lights.You will eventually see Sainsbury’s on your left at a set of traffic lights – continue straight, go straight through 2 more sets of traffic lights onto Handford Road. At the next roundabout (Handford Rd. – Civic Drive), you’ll find the entrance to the pay & display car parks.
From Southwold, Aldeburgh and Woodbridge (A12 southbound)
Take Woodbridge Road (A1214) into Ipswich, turn left on Argyle Street, take a right onto St Helen’s Street, continue straight on Crown Street to the roundabout, take the first exit (which takes you past the theatre). At the next roundabout (Handford Rd. – Civic Drive), you’ll find the entrance to the pay & display car parks.
From Felixstowe (A14 westbound)
Take the A1156 into Ipswich from the A14. Continue straight on Bishop’s Hill and on Fore Hamlet. Bear left on A1156 and continue straight on Fore Street. Take a left onto Salthouse Street, bear right onto key Street, continue straight on College Street, left onto Bridge Street, bear left onto Grey Friars Road, right onto Franciscan Way, continue straight on Princes Street and bear left onto Civic Drive. At the next roundabout (Handford Rd. – Civic Drive), you’ll find the entrance to the pay & display car parks.
