About Sumerah

Sumerah Srivastav is a playwright, librettist and screenwriter with an MBA and a background in law. Most notably, she has written on Golden Globe nominated series Lupin as well upcoming episodes for Manifest and Colosseum. Other TV credits include Good Karma Hospital, Messiah, Casualty and Eastenders.

As a playwright, Sumerah came up through the Royal Court’s invited Studio programme and the Criterion playwright programme. Her recent theatre credits include James Graham’s Sketching (PW Productions), #846Live (Stratford East), Jigsaw (Migration Museum) and Veiled & Vinegar (Redbridge Drama). Sumerah contributed material to Hear Me Now, a published collection of audition monologues for actors of colour (Oberon). She is an alumnus of Theatre Royal Stratford East’s musical theatre initiative, has two musicals in development with her co-writer Ajay Srivastav and also acts as a Trustee Director for Mercury Musical Developments and co-Chair of the Equalities & Diversity committee at the Writers Guild of Great Britain.

Prior to her writing career, Sumerah launched and ran an award-winning commercial radio station targeting London’s Asian youth audiences (Club Asia) for which she won numerous awards, including a Women in Public Life award and an Asian Woman of Achievement award.
