Richard Chapell

Currently based in the UK, Richard Chappell is an internationally renowned choreographer andperformer.

After training on The Royal Ballet School's Associate program, Richard continued to study at Tring ParkSchool, before undertaking a BA Hons Degree at Rambert School. Whilst training, Richard started developing his choreography for theNational Youth Ballet (Sadler's Wells) and Youth Dance England'sYoung Creatives Scheme (Royal Opera House).

Throughout 2013-2016 Richard foundedhis company Richard Chappell Dance and created and toured hisinaugural double bill IRIS and The Vast Rocks with funding from Arts Council England and The Linbury Trust twice across the UK. Through RCD Richard has created three site specific short films, withone being shot for viewing in virtual reality on Oculus Rift and another in collaboration with Stuttgart Ballet Soloist Robert Robinson.

In 2017, Richard created and toured hisfirst full length work At the end we begin through Studio WayneMcGregor's FreeSpace program. As a guest choreographer, Richard has created works for Frontier Danceland (Singapore), Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Stuttgart Ballet, Transitions Dance Company (Trinity Laban) English National Ballet, YDance, Dance in Devon, Swindon Dance, Dance City, Youth Music Theatre UK, Chichester University and the National Youth Ballet of Great Britain.

Richard has lead choreographic workshops for Singapore School of the Arts, Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance, Northern School of Contemporary Dance, ArtEz Institute of the Arts (Holland) and Lasalle College of the Arts (Singapore), amongst others.
