Paul Hurt

Paul has taught writing in the UK and Europe for many years and has written over forty plays including, TIME GENTLEMEN PLEASE; WOTCHA McCALLIT; RING OF LAUGHTER (Compact Theatre); HOW IN WHAT YEAR; ANGELS AT ELEVEN, WATCHOUT (Hants Schools TiE); SUPERVANDAL; GOODBYE-EE;  SANDWICHES CURLING AT THE EDGES; A DEVIL OF A LIFE (Back Door Theatre); LOVE DON’T LIVE HERE ANYMORE (Back Door Theatre); DEUS MISERERE (Derbyshire County Youth Theatre); LUDDITES! (Derbyshire County Youth Theatre) and WORLD TURNED UPSIDE DOWN (Derbyshire County Youth Theatre); WHAT A WASTE (Matlock Youth Theatre)); TIN HATS AND TELEGRAMS (High Peak Community Arts):  REVELATIONS (North-East Derbyshire Young People’s Theatre); WI’ PICK AN’ SHOVEL (Springfield Community School)); MOON IN ECLIPSE (Moonshine Production); BESSIE BELLWOOD (Living Theatre); BIG TIME (Big Pig Theatre); GET A JOB! There have also been several adaptations for the stage including LADY CHATTERLEY’S LOVER (Buxton Opera House Productions); A CHRISTMAS CAROL (Back Door Theatre); A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM (Buxton Opera House); TWELFTH NIGHT (Buxton Opera House); MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING (Buxton Opera House) and the musical of Frank McCourt’s Pulitzer Prize-winning memoir, ANGELA’S ASHES, with composer Adam Howell (Pat Moylan Productions).

Current projects include SMILE – a new play based in the 1950s and HATFUL OF HOLLOW – a play-cycle based on the iconic Smiths album.
