Max Harris

English musical director and pianist Max Harris BMus (Hons), PGCE (Cantab) currently enjoys a varied career throughout the UK, having previously performed for the Prime Minister and members of the Royal Family (including the Queen and Prince Charles). He is highly skilled in solo piano, piano accompaniment, organ, clarinet and saxophone (though never all at the same time), as well as teaching singing, piano, woodwind and theory. 

 Formerly a Music Scholar of Brentwood School in Essex, Max obtained an Upper Second Class Honours degree in Music from Royal Holloway, University of London in 2017 - whilst there, he led the musical direction team for all things musical theatre, and studied piano with Matthew Stanley and saxophone with Kyle Horch. He completed his Postgraduate Certificate in Education at the University of Cambridge (with affiliation to Jesus College) in 2018, and is currently Head of Music at a large comprehensive school in Essex, where he teaches up to and including A Level Music and Music Technology. Max also works as a freelance MD for British Youth Music Theatre, with past credits including The Great Gatsby (AMD, 2016) and Extinction (AMD, 2019). He has taught singing at a variety of stage schools including Stagecoach Theatre Arts and The Talentz, and he has orchestrated, played in pit bands and taken part in recording sessions for many different productions both amateur and professional.  

A dedicated teacher and musician devoted to his passion and determined to challenge and inspire; being a musical director is a job that suits Max down to the ground. He has been fortunate enough to MD some of the finest productions in the modern musical theatre canon including Legally Blonde, Sister Act, Bring It On, In the Heights and RENT. Max is passionate about teaching and working with voices, and is a firm believer that music as a discipline inspires and invigorates the soul more than any other.
