Martha Geelan

I’m a freelance theatre director, writer, dramaturg & teacher based in East London.

This summer I’ve worked together with Trevor Nunn directing Identical - a new musical by Stiles and Drewe based on The Parent Trap. The show opened at the Nottingham Playhouse to 5 star reviews.

My debut musical as book-writer babies is currently in development with Indigo Productions and Crossroads Live. I recently directed our workshop at the Arts Theatre.

This spring I directed a five star sell-out run of ACE-funded show AGATHA by award-winning writer Gemma Barnett.

The Shark is Broken, for which I’m Associate Director was nominated for an Olivier and I just returned from transferring it to the Royal Alexandra Theatre, Toronto.

My other work in development includes directing a recent reading of a new play for Sonia Freidman Productions and a workshop of a new rock musical adaptation with David Ian Productions - as well as various private dramaturgy clients.

My other work as Associate Director to Sir Trevor Nunn include Olivier Award-Winning Fiddler on the Roof & the London premiere of The Bridges of Madison County.

I teach, direct and workshop lead in schools, at drama schools & privately - last year I directed Twelfth Night at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.
