Katy Ayling
Originally from Newcastle Upon Tyne, Katy is currently studying at London Contemporary Dance School.
Katy was a regular BYMT company member from 2006 and performed as part of the original cast of Loserville as well as originating the role of Hecate in BYMT's Macbeth. Katy went on to become an artistic team member with BYMT at the age of 19. Since then Katy has continued to work as a choreographer and assistant with the company as Assistant Choreographer on Macbeth (2012) and a re-staging of Lindsay Kemps Variété (2013) as well as Resident Director on our 2015 production of Macbeth at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Katy has been dancing since the relatively late age of 14 and was accepted on to the celebrated CAT scheme at Dance City Newcastle. Performances with CAT included Many Rivers (Neville Campbell), Gateshead FlashMob (Carrie-Anne Ingrouille) and Woman (Vivienne Wood). Katy was also a regional winner of ‘Youth Dance England’ and has performed at Southbank Centre. Since moving to London Katy has been selected to perform in the Robin Howard Theatre at The Place representing LCDS, has performed as part of Resolution 2014 as well as performing with Royal Ballet and Rambert dancers as part of the INALA project. Katy has worked with a range of dance practitioners for performance, including Liv Lorent (Ballet Lorent), Vivien Wood (DV8) and Neville Campbell (Phoenix Dance Theatre and Scottish Dance Theatre).
Katy has a passion for creating movement and as well as her training at LCDS, she continues to independently create and perform her own work.
