2020 Auditions launch

British Youth Music Theatre, the leading music theatre company for young people, will once again be touring across the UK, in search of talented performers and musicians to star in brand-new musicals this summer. Throughout February, we will be visiting 19 cities across the UK and Ireland looking for 300 young people to join the 2020 BYMT Company. Auditions are open to absolutely anyone aged 11-21, and no previous experience is necessary.

This incredible summer season will feature some of the biggest titles in British theatre, music and literature, including:

  • Breadboy – following the smash hit musical PAPERBOY and based on the second memoir by much-loved Irish writer Tony Macauley
  • The Night the War Ended – A lesser-known tale about Princesses Elizabeth and Margret’s incognito night out as they celebrated the end of World War II
  • Dance Connection – Continuing our boundary pushing Dance Connection series that boldly combines complex vocal landscapes with daring contemporary movement.
  • Plus, many more to be announced soon.

Young people are auditioning to join the company and train with leading theatre practitioners, to create one of eight brand new, full-scale musical theatre shows performed in a professional theatre venues across the UK. Previous BYMT Company members include Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Charlotte Ritchie and over 8,000 others, many of whom have successfully entered the creative industries. BYMT courses provide a unique insight into the world of professional theatre.
