Join BYMT company with our Bursary Scheme
“I wouldn’t have been able to take part without the scholarship. When I’m on stage I’m a totally different person” Noah, 13 from Portadown, performed in Paperboy in 2018.
At BYMT, we truly believe in equal opportunities and do our best to offer everyone a chance to take their first steps on stage. Every year over 30% of BYMT’s participants are awarded bursaries to join the company, take part in our summer musical productions courses and star in our season of new music theatre.
British Youth Music Theatre participant Noah, aged 13, from Portadown, County Armagh received a Bursary in 2018 and took on a lead role in the smash-hit musical Paperboy adaptated from Tony Macaulay’s much-loved memoir and performed at Lyric Theatre Belfast last summer.
Noah said: “It really helped me and my family, and it’s honestly the best thing that’s happened to me so far. So many opportunities have come from it, and I’ve made so many friends for life”
BYMT bursary scheme gives young people the opportunity to receive the highest quality training in musical theatre skills from top industry professionals; enabling people from all backgrounds to go on and fulfil their dreams.

Noah continues: “I’ve had trouble with bullies and name-calling at school before because of my interests in musical theatre, but now, because they’ve seen what you can do with it, all the people that bullied me are talking to me about it, and actually want to get involved too. It’s crazy!”
