It’s been a big period of change for us during the past 12 months. The biggest change being the move of our Head Office from London to Leeds – until now.

Don’t worry, we’re not moving offices again and we’re not changing what we do. In fact, this change is to reinforce exactly what we stand for.

For years, we’ve been British Youth Music Theatre, creating brand-new, original productions with young performers at the heart of it all. And now, we’re doubling down on that commitment with a new name – British Youth Nusic Theatre!

‘Nusic Theatre’ is a new term we’re coining, defining itself as a blend of ‘new’ and music’ making ‘Nusic’ and being partnered together with ‘Theatre’ to emphasise how the importance of creating new work is crucial to our identity.

Creative Director and Chief Executive Emily Gray says:

“We believe that right now, this emphasis on the new is more important than ever. The musical theatre landscape is full of revivals and long-running shows — but what about the next generation of stories? The fresh ideas and the voices we haven’t heard yet? That’s why we are showing our commitment to championing original productions, brand-new writing, and emerging creatives with this bold name change.”
