Evie Atkin is a composer, musical director, and performer based in London. As a composer, she has worked with ensembles such as BBC Concert Orchestra, ORA Singers and Exaudi. Her piece What Were You Wearing?, which was written in response to the Mary Simmerling poem of the same name, won the 2020 BBC Young Composer award.Â
She studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and was generously supported by the Guildhall Scholarship Fund. She is a member of the GOB orchestra, a collective of gender non-conforming individuals who present innovative a-cappella beatbox performances with world-champion beatboxer SK Shlomo.

She has worked with BYMT a number of times including taking part in our Creative Work Placement Scheme as Assistant Musical Director for A Midsummer Nights Dream in 2022 and then was a professional member of the band for our 2023 production of Romeo and Juliet.
Evie is the composer and musical director on our upcoming summer production of Choreomania, coming to Birmingham Hippodrome this August.
