Lewis Cornay

Lewis is an award-winning writer and performer. Most recently he worked with Birmingham Hippodrome on his new BEAM selected piece- ‘KIDNEY4U’. He is also currently writing music and lyrics for a new young adult musical with Salisbury Playhouse and Nosy Crow. His play ‘Cows Milk’ was selected as part of Omnibus Theatres Engine Room and is now in early stages of development. Last year Lewis was awarded the New Musical Theatre Award, giving him a commission to write a brand new musical (Harry & Greta) for British Youth Music Theatre at New Wolsey Theatre. His debut play ‘Daddy Issues’ received its debut in 2022 at Seven Dials Playhouse to critical acclaim. Before this his one-man show ‘The Curious Case of Lewis Cornay’ was premiered at The Other Palace. His musical, ‘Snowflake’, was workshopped at the Lowry Theatre as part of the ReWrites Festival. It was nominated for an Offie Award for Innovation and a song from the show was selected as a finalist for the Stiles and Drewe Best Song New Prize. Lewis is also alumni of the prestigious Soho Writers Lab. Some of his performance highlights include SpongeBob SquarePants in The SpongeBob Musical (Southbank Centre & UK Tour), John & Jen (Southwark Playhouse- Offie Award Winner for Best Leading Performance), She Loves Me (Sheffield Crucible), Whistle Down the Wind (Watermill Theatre) and The Book of Mormon (Prince of Wales Theatre).

Lewis first encountered BYMT as a young person performing in The Salsa Sisters, in 2012.
