Belfast Shankill Road: Performer (2019)

What to expect on Audition day

BYMT Auditions are for anyone aged 11-21 looking to kick-start their career in the performing arts - join the BYMT 2019 Company!

A flagship show of the 2019 summer season in Belfast will be a musical adaptation of the much-loved memoir, Paperboy by Irish novelist Tony Macaulay; a coming of age drama set against the gritty backdrop of the Shankill Road in 1970’s Belfast. Auditions for all eight productions in the 2019 summer season including Paperboy will take place at the Lyric Theatre Belfast on 10 February. The Shankill Road Audition is a special audition just for Paperboy at Spectrum Centre, 18 February, on Shankill Road, open to anyone in Ireland for just £5.

You are auditioning to be part of BYMT’s 2019 Summer Season where, if successful, you’ll be placed on a three-week project to create a brand-new piece of music theatre with a team of theatre professionals. BYMT projects are residential - so you'll be living away from home - and take place in July/August.

The audition is a 3 1/2 hour group workshop where you’ll be led by a professional director, a musical director and a choreographer. Please read the full details of the auditions process and what to prepare, before attending the audition, found HERE.

What should I bring to the audition?

You will need to wear loose comfortable clothing (NOT JEANS), trainers or jazz shoes and bring a bottle of water. If you haven't already supplied a photo when booking, you will need to need to download and fill in our Audition REGISTRATION FORM (on the right) and bring it along with you with two colour passport sized photos attached to the form.
