Joanna Taylor

Joanna Taylor is a composer and lyricist based in Essex. Her first musical Poise was performed in concert at RADA, and her one-man chamber opera Everything and More, inspired by the life and mathematical theories of Georg Cantor, was performed at Omnibus Theatre as part of their Engine Room series. She is a past winner and finalist of the Xmas Factor, and was invited to Los Angeles to participate in the ASCAP Stephen Schwartz/Dreamworks Musical Theater Workshop. Joanna writes regularly for acclaimed storyteller Panto Dame Mama G, and their first musical together Eunice! was performed at Stanley Arts in December 2020 and live on Zoom. She made her Royal Opera House debut in 2022 with her contemporary song cycle based on the poems of Amy Levy her mini-opera (jointly commissioned by the Royal Opera House and Casco Phil) was performed at St Pancras Station in 2022. She is a former member of the Advanced BML writing laboratory, a current member of Engender Network and a Maestra mentee. Alongside her writing she has been a music librarian for over 10 years, working for English National Opera, The Royal Opera House, and professional conductors across the world.
