Elizabeth Charlesworth

Elizabeth is a composer, orchestrator and arranger based in London. She trained as a composer at the University of Nottingham and has since worked with a wide variety of organisations to create new works for the stage and beyond.
Elizabeth was one of three inaugural composers on British Youth Music Theatre's Triptych Programme, an international competition for female composers. Her musical, A Lie, was performed at the Mac in Belfast.
2015 saw her collaborate with BYMT on a second commission with director Ellis Kirkhoven and choreographer Deborah Galloway on The Midnight Flower Press. First Ladies is Elizabeth's third British Youth Music Theatre project and will see her return to Plymouth in August 2017 to work alongside director Gerard Jones on this new song cycle for an all-girl cast. 
A member of the Book, Music and Lyrics writer's workshop, Elizabeth has been developing a new musical with lyricist Rachel Bellman. Otherworld is currently being developed in partnership with Winchester University.
Elizabeth trained as a Youth Music Leader with City Arts Nottingham and has since written extensively for music and education in commissions for the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and Nottingham City Council.

Alongside her commissioned work, Elizabeth has worked with writer Adam H Wells on two new musicals. The Reviewers saw a full run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2014 and Afterthought was shortlisted by Fairground Theatre Company for Songs from the Playground in 2015.
