Presenting our new Northern Ireland Summer Camp30 May 2019 - 1:03pm
FROM PAPERBOY TO BREADBOY…
Our Summer Camp will be held at Victoria College in Belfast from Monday 12 to Saturday 17 August 2019. This 6-day residential musical theatre holiday will give young participants the opportunity to explore Tony Macaulay’s autobiographical story Breadboy and travel back to the 70s!
It's Belfast, 1977. The King is dead and a 14-year-old boy wearing Denim aftershave has just been appointed breadboy in the last Ormo Mini-Shop in the world, delivering bread to the residents of the Upper Shankill on Saturday mornings. He's all grown up now, so he is, and nearly shaving. The Bee Gees fill the airwaves, everyone is in love with Princess Leia, and Breadboy's love of peace and pets is soon rivalled by his interest in parallel universes and punk . . . and girls, especially Judy Carlton who sits opposite him in chemistry...
Open to anyone aged 11-17 regardless of experience, BYMT’s Northern Ireland Summer Camp offers intense, creative training in musical theatre for anyone looking to explore their potential and develop their acting, singing and dancing abilities. Participants will work with top theatre professionals to create Breadboy, a brand new show in just a week!
“It gave me the confidence to believe in myself and my abilities” Annabel, 12"
“I don't know if anything will ever be as amazing as my time with BYMT! Thank you to everyone - cast, crew and chaperones." Kane, 12
